The donations from the month of August are going towards Hurricane Dorian relief.We are proud to be partnering with Convoy of Hope as they have been helping tremendously with the relief efforts from the devastating effects of Hurricane Dorian.
Our August Gift- Convoy of Hope: Hurricane Dorian Relief
First of all, we just want to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you that supports DollarFund. We couldn’t do what we do without you and we are so thankful each of you have chosen to partner with us. This month, we are putting your donations towards the work for relief from Hurricane Dorian and the impact it made when it hit the Bahamas.
As you know, Hurricane Dorian was a very large and powerful hurricane that came through the Atlantic Ocean and headed towards the Bahamas. The hurricane drove many away from the area as they fled the hurricane and left behind their homes to seek safety. The impact and devastation of Dorian has affected the Bahamas deeply and they are still recovering. Hurricane Dorian was the most powerful tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country’s history. We are heartbroken for all the loss and devastation that took place in the Bahamas as an effect of Hurricane Dorian.
We are so excited to partner with Convoy of Hope and support them in their efforts to help the Bahamas restore after the Hurricane and support them as they help the Bahamian people that have had to deal with this terrible disaster. Convoy of Hope is a faith-based, nonprofit organization, that helps empower others to live with greater independence and freedom from poverty, disease, and hunger. They are always quick to respond and go to the site of natural disasters to help those effected and we are grateful for the work that they have done and are continuing to do in the Bahamas.
Hurricane Dorian’s unpredictable, two-week-long assault in the Atlantic Ocean has left the Bahamas in ruins. Houses are now piles of timber. Low-lying areas are still flooded. Loved ones are still missing. Convoy of Hope’s response to Hurricane Dorian is in full swing. Across the Bahamas, Convoy of Hope’s network of local partners continues to grow. We’re equipping each partner with the food, water, and relief supplies they need to best serve their communities.
To date, Convoy of Hope is working with 20 community hubs for distribution. We’ve already shipped pallets and whole containers of goods to the islands, and more are on the way. In many communities, stores and vital infrastructure were completely destroyed. Outside help remains the only meaningful way residents can find relief.
Convoy of Hope partners in Florida are also providing vital resources to many Bahamians who evacuated to the United States.
Convoy of Hope’s response is poised to grow as the communities affected continue to recover. So far, Convoy of Hope has distributed more than 400,000 pounds of disaster relief supplies, including solar lanterns, and water filters to more than 16,000 individuals.
