Our March Gift – Rice Bowls
163 million. That’s the number of orphans there are across the world. That number is staggering. Without care, these vulnerable children are often forced to work in commercial agriculture, as street vendors, beggars, domestic servants or given over to the sex trade as victims of human trafficking. Every few seconds an orphan dies from malnutrition. In fact, malnutrition plays a part in more than half of child deaths worldwide. Millions of children suffer from micronutrient malnutrition, when the body lacks essential minerals and vitamins. These deficiencies can lead to severe mental and physical impairment, life-threatening anemia, lowered productivity and a weakened immune system.
With statistics like that, the fight for orphans and against malnutrition can seem daunting. That’s where Rice Bowls comes in. Rice Bowls partners with loving, grass-roots children’s homes around the world to cover 100% of their delicious, locally sourced meals. The homes can then focus on loving, teaching, protecting and providing for the children in their care. Orphaned kids can then grow up to become chefs, software engineers, welders, doctors, teachers, ministers, marathon runners and flat out awesome human beings.
Caring for and feeding the orphans makes Rice Bowls the perfect organization for DollarFund to partner with. Through your generous giving, two children’s homes will be fully fed for a full month. That’s two children’s homes that can focus on raising children, without the concern for where the next meal will come from because of YOU!
Through your continued generosity, we will continue to harness the power of one to make a difference in this world. Thank you for joining our movement and feeding the orphans. To learn more about Rice Bowls, visit them online at RiceBowls.org.
